Katie's Kids Camp

Welcome to

ABOUT CAMP

Over the past 30+ years, the mission of Katie's Kids Camp has been to connect kids from all walks of life to Jesus. Our mission is achieved year after year through fun, recreation, relationships, and worship.

The camp is located in Byers, TX, approximately 20 miles north of Wichita Falls. The camp rests on 60 acres where campers are housed in air-conditioned dorms, dine in the gym, and have services in the Student Center. The property also has sand volleyball, basketball courts, and access to outdoor games. Campers are transported to other local activities during camp as well.

The camp has been in operation since 1992, and we adopted the name Katie's Kids Camp in 2003 in memory of Katie Sue Kucharski. Katie was a little girl who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma cancer at the age of three and was selected as the poster child for the American Red Cross in 1999. Katie dreamed of going to camp and experiencing it just like other kids did, and she got that chance in 1999.

Katie loved the camp and could not wait to return the following year; however, on January 2, 2000, Katie lost her five-year battle and went to heaven to be with Jesus. The camp continues in her name, and we are grateful to all those who get to experience camp the same way Katie did!

Questions?

  • When is Registration open?
Camper registration opens on the last day of camp for a short window, and then it is open again from November 1 to the first day of camp. If camper spots fill up, a waitlist is available. Staff applications are available January 1-March 31.
  • Is this camp just for individuals, or can I bring my church?
We have a mix of individuals and churches who attend our camp! If your church wants to bring a group, please reach out to katieskidscamp@gmail.com before registering, so we can make sure to put your group on the same team!
  • How does snack shack work?
Snack Shack is our version of a concession stand. We offer it twice per day. We sell candy, chips, soda, and more! To make sure campers and staff don’t have to carry cash, you can purchase a snack shack bracelets with $5 on each. Snack shack bracelets can be purchased at the time of registration or check-in only.
  • How do I sign up to be on Staff?
Staff members must at least be in 7th grade, serve in their local church with the ability for a church leader to complete a reference form, and be willing to complete a background check if over 18. We accept staff applications from January 1-March 31. Staff applications are accessible here. Submitting an application does not guarantee your acceptance as a staff member; you will receive an email letting you know if your application was accepted by May 1.
  • Can I request my camper be in the same room with another camper?
Absolutely! There’s a space on the registration form to add that preference! We have two boy dorms and two girl dorms, and we try to accommodate requests for campers to be in the same dorm.
  • How can I pay my balance?
You can pay your balance here! If you have a remaining balance, you’ll see a needs attention notification, and you can walk through the steps to complete your balance. You can also pay your remaining balance when you check in your child on the first day of camp.
  • What age does my child have to be to be a camper?
Overnight campers must complete 1st-6th grade. Day Campers must be 4 by January 1 up to 1st grade. We allow 1st graders to choose the camp experience that’s best for them because we know not all 1st graders are quite ready to stay overnight at camp.
